Executive Summary

  • Client: YCCECE (耀中幼兒教育學院)

  • Location: Hong Kong

  • Program: Dinotopia Green Education Experience

  • Challenge: Making sustainability engaging and "felt" rather than an abstract concept for families

  • Solution: A gamified, immersive treasure hunt mission to "save the Dino Friends"

  • Impact: 150+ families participated in hands-on climate action in a single day

The Challenge

Many schools struggle with making green education meaningful for young learners. Traditional approaches often fail because sustainability concepts feel distant, and families frequently lack hands-on entry points to practice environmental values together.

How can we make the sustainability learning experience memorable, inclusive, and actionable across different age groups?

The Strategic Approach

1. Immersive Storytelling as a Learning Engine

We designed a narrative where the world’s "綠色平衡水晶" (Green Balance Crystal) was damaged. By transforming participants into heroes on a mission to "save the Dino Friends," we gave environmental learning emotional stakes and purpose.

2. Gamified Sustainability Challenges

Instead of static displays, we utilized a treasure hunt format where over 150 families became "green explorers". Each station translated complex climate ideas into age-appropriate, collaborative tasks that required hands-on problem solving.

3. Brand Mission in Action

The event served as a live demonstration of YCCECE’s commitment to early childhood green education. It successfully integrated institutional goals, such as highlighting scholarship initiatives and engaging families in conversations about high-quality education.

寓教於樂不只是口號,而是設計核心。

The Experience

On December 1, the YCCECE campus was transformed into a living green education playground. Families didn't just attend an event; they entered a shared story. Seeing parents and children working together to restore the "Green Balance Crystal" reinforced the truth that when sustainability is playful, real behaviour change follows.

最動人的時刻 — 當參與者不再只是「參加活動」,而是開始一起行動,改變就發生了。

Impact at a Glance

Key Outcomes

  • 150+ families and children engaged in one day

  • Multiple sustainability concepts successfully translated into hands-on action

  • Cross-generational engagement where children and parents practiced sustainability together

  • Strengthened community awareness regarding green education and climate responsibility

Why This Matters

Dinotopia proves that sustainability education doesn’t need to be simplified; it needs to be reimagined. By combining storytelling, gamification, and community participation, YCCECE has established a scalable model for green education that other institutions can learn from. This moves the needle from "symbolic participation" to "practiced sustainability".

可持續發展不是一人的孤軍作戰,而是一場團隊運動。

Looking Ahead

Events like Dinotopia are blueprints for how schools can engage families meaningfully and build communities around shared environmental values. We are committed to redefining early childhood education as a long-term investment in our shared social responsibility.

How is your organization measuring real learning impact? What would change if your next program was designed for participation and proof?
